Meetings growth continues during the peak of summer
The industry is now showing recovery from the long holiday weekend. Meetings and events increased by 11.9% compared to the prior week. Event activity is expected to rebound as we move past the extended holiday.
The average number of attendees for the week was 82 people, while the average square footage used was 1,771 per event and square feet used per person was 22.
The corporate market segment represented 58.3% of overall business for the week. This week, the top five segments are consistent with last week: National Association, Technology, Healthcare, Education, and Training/Education.
Markets with the highest week over week variance for number of meetings were Washington DC, Orlando, San Antonio, Nashville, and Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill. Orlando led with a slightly higher number of people per square feet of meeting space at 24 attendees.
